Pharma Valley

JGL Pharma Valley

Requirements: To define a master plan for the development of a new Pharma Valley zone of 75,000 m2 that will enable the next phase of development of the JGL pharmaceutical company from Rijeka. A hybrid program that includes warehouses, manufacturing, research/development, and offices, as well as a master plan that places the basic building next to the busiest thoroughfare in the country, are challenging enough without the additional requirement for design flexibility that can double the production surface in the future and connect different parts. Fortunately, this is an exceptional client who takes responsibility for the company as a responsibility to the community and the space in which it builds, so all our architectural research has paid off many times over. The project was developed in cooperation with the architectural office Katusic Kocbek from Zagreb.

House for the poor

House for the poor

Requirements: The client – Provincial House of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in Rijeka – approached us with the request to help improve the conditions for the humanitarian services they provide as part of their spiritual calling – feeding, bathing and comforting the poor and the homeless. We decided that the best solution to the request should include detached House for the Poor inside convent walls. It is a small compact building with a slightly shifted geometry – an answer to the project brief as well as to the location within the existing historical structure.

JGL regional center

JGL offices Zagreb

With this project, we reconstructed the existing low-rise building to accommodate the offices of the JGL Regional Center. Simple and economical facade restoration solution – machine and manual cutting of standard facade panels allowed us to create a compact city volume. In the interior, the challenge was to bring enough natural light into the depths of the space. The solution was to design the hallway as a transparent space.
