Interpolation in the historical structure of the Belveder metropolitan area in Rijeka. The Residential-Commercial Building T is the result of design research by analyzing typologies, scales and textures of the existing urban tissue.
Residential office building on the site of the former RIO clothing industry. The concept includes two underground floors of garages, offices on the ground floor and apartments arranged in three residential towers. This project is the result of exploring the possibility of a new interpretation of the motif of the Rijeka residential skyscraper, the dominant spatial element in the areas of accelerated urban expansion in the post-war period.
We designed the project in collaboration with the Rubing Architectural Office.
Requirements: Residential building. An analysis of the location next to the center of Matulji showed that the best choice is to build two residential buildings with a total of seven apartments. This decision allowed us to establish a satisfactory relationship with a fully constructed structure by designing and measuring buildings.
The location of this project (single-family home), in a pastoral undeveloped environment of the island of Krk, has directed us to the concept of distributed volumes. Each functional part of the building is formed as a separate small stone building. The game with scale and natural materials has allowed us to integrate the new structure into the existing landscape in a way that demonstrates our attitude towards the hierarchy of values when working in a sensitive landscape.
